East Herts DFAS is a Member of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) which was launched in 1968, and now has over 330 societies in the UK. In addition there are Societies in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. With 90,000 members worldwide, NADFAS works towards promoting and preserving the arts. It arranges lectures, visits, study days, and tours to places of interest.
East Herts DFAS presents lectures given by carefully selected professional lecturers with a national reputation in their field. Meetings are held at 10.30 am, on the last Thursday of the month, at Broxbourne Civic Hall. Coffee is served from 10.00 a.m. There are no meetings in July, August or December. East Herts DFAS also arranges a programme of one day visits to cultural venues, together with longer tours in the UK and overseas. Recent tours have included Amsterdam, Istanbul, and Madrid. Several church recordings have been completed.
East Herts DFAS has a membership of 460 and the current annual subscription is £28. Guests are welcome to lectures (where a donation will be invited) and to Special Interest Days and Outings, on payment of the appropriate costs.
